The experts over at Bread Newbie state that in every standard loaf of sandwich bread, there are between 20 and 24 uniform slices. Sometimes specialty bread such as Texas Toast will boost up the size of each slice, leaving you with around 16 per bag, even though the overall volume of the loaf is the same.
Loaves of thin-sliced bread contain approximately 26 slices. A slice of sandwich bread is generally 3/8- to 5/8-inch thick.
Size matters.Aim for around 3-4 ounces of protein—the size of your palm or a deck of cards. It's ok to go a little over that, but many deli sandwiches often contain a pound of meat, enough protein for 4 people! If properly portioned, a mid-day sandwich can, indeed, make for a good weight loss option too.
It depends on the size of the loaf, most machines offer 3 size options, but for a 2 pound loaf the answer is 12 slices on average but the slice is enormous. From a slice you make a sandwich because you have to cut it in 2.

Never keep your bread in the fridge. The starch molecules in bread recrystallize very quickly at cool temperatures, and causes the bread to stale much faster when refrigerated. Shop-bought loaves should be kept in an air-tight plastic bag at room temperature rather than in the fridge.
How long a loaf of bread lasts before it gets moldy or stale depends on the type of bread. In general, most loaves will last up to a week at room temperature, and three to five days longer in the fridge—though keep in mind that refrigeration can make bread go stale.
