Hideaki Anno wants it to be known that
anime will still continue to be made in
Japan. As long as there are Otakus who get what they want,
Japanese anime will still be around. What Anno states will
die is
Japan's anime presence in the world today.

1951 - Osamu Tezuka created the milestone manga, Tetsuwan Atom or Astro Boy, as it was known in the US. As a result, years later he became a pioneer in anime, and was the man responsible for the success of anime and manga worldwide.
Anime has become more popular overseas in recent years due to a shrinking Japanese population leading to an increased export-minded trade. This has meant that anime producers have started to make content more suited to Western tastes, as well as producing anime overseas as it is much cheaper.
Yes there is, but it is not well known outside Korea. The Manhwa Noblesse will be made into an 'anime' this year. Besides studios using outsourced Korean studios, there aren't many Korean anime so to speak. JM Animation should be a Korean company that often works with Japanese studios (often Satelight).
Hoshi no Koe is about 30 minutes total. Houkago no Pleiades is shorter still: 24 minutes over 4 episodes. I'm pretty certain neither is the shortest. Morita-san wa Mukuchi from last season was 13 episodes of 3 minute episodes (that included intro song).
Most anime are made to promote the source material. Anime is very expensive to make so only the really popular series get continuations pretty much.
Many anime are based on other stories, so the anime must end when there is no content left to adapt. Another reason is that anime viewers have come to expect shorter shows, so studios continue to make them short (although this doesn't explain the start of the short series trend).

Anime industry is one of the big entertainment industry in Japan. I think it one of the mainstream business of Japan. Anime brought them huge revenue every year. Anime is not just anime in Japan, it's a culture to them. Most of popular anime has their own game. Some of them have several games made based on them.
In general, reading is always better than watching.. You would get to know in detail, every single character… But if I have to choose between reading manga and watching anime, and that too in One Piece, I would choose Anime…. Anime offers one significant feature which the manga wouldn't… MUSIC..
You should never ever skip Dressrosa arc. Dressrosa definitely has a few gems of episodes in there, and It was pretty entertaining. However, it is EXTREMELY long and towards the end I was just ready for something new. So yes it is worth the watch, but feel free to skip unimportant parts.

In anime fan communities, the "Big Three" were the top shounen manga/anime series who were so massively popular they were impossible to get away from, especially in anime fan circles. That used to mean Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. They were grouped together because of their mega-success.

Death Note is a masterpiece. It is a fantastic anime and TV series that has you on the edge of your seat, even with the downgrade in quality after episode 25. It has a great story, great characters and great themes and symbolism.
