NASA has finished work on a new launchpad at its Kennedy Space Center in Florida — Launch Complex 48 (LC-48), a pad that will be able to support smaller launch vehicles than either LC-39A or B, or SLC-41, which currently host SpaceX, SLS and ULA launches, respectively.
Launches are conducted from atop a concrete hardstand 390 feet by 325 feet, located at the center of the pad area. The Pad A and Pad B hardstands are 48 feet and 55 feet above sea level, respectively. The FSS is each pad's most prominent feature, standing 347 feet from ground level to the tip of the lightning mast.
When the lunar launch complex was designed, it was designated as Launch Complex 39. It was designed to handle launches of the Saturn V rocket, the largest, most powerful rocket then designed, which would propel Apollo spacecraft to the Moon. Pad 39A was never built, and 39C became 39A in 1963.
Vertically integrated rockets can be assembled in a separate hangar on a mobile launcher platform (MLP). The MLP contains the umbilical structure and is carried to the launch site on a large vehicle called Crawler-transporter. Launch Complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center is an example of a facility using this method.
Florida is a good location for rocket launches because it is both on the east coast of the US and because it is close to the equator. Launching from the east coast of the US means that the rocket can take advantage of the Earth's west-to-east spin.
4 Answers. They are used to redirect lightning in the immediate area. This essentially creates a faraday cage, shielding the rocket from being fried by lightning. You can see how high the towers reach, high enough to ensure there is no risk of lightning hitting the craft.

SpaceX has a nearly two hour window for today's launch, beginning at 11:21 AM EST (8:21 AM PST), and weather is currently looking good. UPDATE: SpaceX updated the launch time to 12:55 PM EST.
Liftoff for today's launch is scheduled for 10:31AM ET out of SpaceX's launch site at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. SpaceX's live coverage will begin about 15 minutes before takeoff, so check back then to watch the company's 11th Starlink mission get off the ground.
You can watch the launch live here and on the Space.com homepage, courtesy of SpaceX, beginning about 15 minutes before liftoff. You'll also be able to watch the launch directly from SpaceX here.
SpaceX can buy land in Boca Chica to build their own spaceport, which, in the long run, will be cheaper than renting a launchpad in Cape Canaveral or Vandenberg. The site needs to be near the sea, to allow transport of the BFR rocket to the launch site. Texas gave SpaceX regulatory and financial intensives.

Stargazers around the country are in for a treat tonight (June 26) as SpaceX launches a new batch of Starlink satellites into the sky. Although it will not be visible in the skies straight after take-off, it may be possible to see it later that evening, experts have said.
The launch kicked off the first-ever human flight in a commercial spacecraft, and marked the first time an American-made vehicle has launched humans from US soil in nearly a decade. If successful, the mission could resurrect the US's human spaceflight capabilities and open a new era of commercial space exploration.
While SpaceX has made significant advances in space technology, it currently makes money purely by launching satellites into low earth orbit and by transporting cargo to and from the International Space Station. Notably, the company charges customers much less per launch compared to other players.
To date there are 9 countries that have orbital launch capability. These are Russia, the United States, France, Japan, China, India, Israel, Iran and North Korea.
Formed in 2016, Maritime Launch is Canada's first commercial rocket launch spaceport.
BAIKONUR, KAZAKHSTAN -- The Proton M rocket launches from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on December 11, 2011. The Soviets built a secret space facility that they called Baikonur, to make the West think the site was near a small mining town that shared that name.
Lift-off is scheduled for 6.33am AEST from Florida's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. You can watch the launch from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 6.30am AEST on Thursday on Channel 9 and 9news.com.au. If successful, it would be the first manned flight since the billionaire founded the company 18 years ago.
The pad itself is a truncated pyramid of concrete that slopes up 40 feet. The flame trench, lined with flame-resistant bricks and concrete, directs the smoke and exhaust of the three main engines back and away from the shuttle on one side and funnels the solid rocket boosters exhaust toward the ocean.

Yes, the rockets are different, yes the trajectory is different (No it does not go north east as you said, but south east towards the equator), but this is not enough to make a difference for you. The previous question linked shows that antares launches can be seen as far as 700km away. You will be 350 km away.
Cape Canaveral is just 50 short miles away from our hometown and being able to watch the rockets as they blast into space is an experience you will never forget!
If you are close to the east coast, near to the Cape Canaveral launch platform, then you will have a prime position to watch the launch. Cape Canaveral launch viewing is also possible from further away. Larger rockets like the SpaceX Falcon Heavy can be seen after take off from distances up to around 700km away.
There are many prime viewing locations outside of the complex, such as along the shores of the Indian River Lagoon, the Exploration Tower in Port Canaveral, Playalinda Beach at the Canaveral National Seashore, the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame in Titusville, the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier, and any of the beaches south of
