Portal is a hilarious first-person puzzle adventure, but ERROR manages to turn it into a creepy psychological horror. It's honestly extremely weird to be solving those first few puzzles in relative silence. It feels like you're not supposed to be there at all.
Portal 1 and 2 are two of the best puzzle-platformers ever made and have influenced the creation of countless other games since their release.
While Valve's produced a handful of sequels, it's never published a third follow-up to any of its games, no matter how popular those games are. It's not just Portal. Valve has yet to make a sequel to Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, or, much to fans' chagrin, Half-Life 2.
While some people will fly right through Portal 2 because they've played the original or perhaps are just very smart, others will undoubtedly find it frustratingly hard, but only at times. With that said, the difficulty level in Portal 2 is very well-balanced.
As for gameplay instructions and explaining how things work, yeah, you'd be much better off playing the first one first. Portal 2 drops you much more suddenly into the thick of things than Portal 1 did. Those reasons aside, you should get Portal 1 simply because it's a kickass game!
There have been many complaints about the length of Portal 2 but, like many of the complaints leveled at the game, they're mostly unfounded. The single-player game can take six to 10 hours to play, and the co-op campaign is at least five hours long.
The game tracks which chambers each player has completed and allows players to replay chambers they have completed with new partners. Portal 2's lead writer Erik Wolpaw estimates each campaign to be about six hours long.
Portal 2 features a separate two-player co-operative campaign, playable over the internet, and new gameplay features include physics-changing paint. "The game's two-player co-operative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters," it said.

Portal Reloaded is currently set to release on April 19th, 2021. Exactly 10 years after the official launch date of Portal 2. This mod is meant to be a celebration of all its achievements and an ambitious attempt to push its concepts even further.
It was released in a bundle, The Orange Box, for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and has been since ported to other systems, including Mac OS X, Linux, and Android (via Nvidia Shield).

It is worth a playthrough, it has good puzzles and the few characters in the game are absolutely great. Honestly, it's worth full asking price, but get it on sale for a few dollars. It's quite honestly one of the best single player experiences ever, and there's no better co-operative puzzle game out there.
Portal is a bit too easy to be the classic and short that everyone claims it as when approached as a standalone game but it is no doubt a great game that has been influential. The humour to the game makes it that little bit more special and I did appreciate it for making me chuckle frequently as I played.
Portal is a puzzle game masquerading as a first-person shooter. The player wields a "portal gun" which creates shortcuts through physical space: Shoot it at a wall and a glowing "portal" appears at the point of impact. Shoot again in a different spot and it makes a second portal.
