What is a GED? After completing the GED, individuals will have earned a High School Equivalency Certificate, which is viewed as equal to an OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) by colleges and employers.

We just went through this process with my son, and the answer is most definitely NO. Universities don't look at your grade 10 marks. Grade 11 marks do matter. My son got the early admission into the University of Alberta using marks from his last term of grade 11.

If you are a student with AS-Levels, Canadian schools require a minimum of four AS-Level subjects in place of the two A-Levels. Keep in mind that the Canadian secondary school system is culminated when you successfully complete Grade 12.
A Levels (Advanced Level qualifications) are a U.K subject-based qualification for students aged 16 and above. They are usually studied over the course of 2 years, and lead to qualifications recognised for entrance to higher education institutes in the UK and many others worldwide.
There is no common equivalent to GCSE in the USA; there is no exam at 16. There is no direct equivalent to A-level, though AP gets quite close. I taught at a good school in Nanjing, where many of my students were doing four A-levels, despite English being a second or third language.
NVQ. What is it? An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) is what's commonly referred to as a 'competence-based' qualification. A NVQ at Level 3 is the equivalent to doing A-levels and from there you can go on to study for a higher qualification, such as a foundation degree, HND, HNC or undergraduate degree.
